If you have a dead tree in your yard you need to remove it quickly. If you do not the tree or branches could fall causing injury or damage to things near the tree. Also, if the tree is diseased you need to remove it before the disease spreads to other trees on your property. It can be dangerous cutting down a tree so hire a tree service to do this for you. Below is information on how this works, as well as what you can do with the area when they are finished.

Cutting Down the Tree

The tree service will have the equipment to cut down the tree much faster. They may use a truck with a lift to get to the top of the tree if it is large. They will start at the top cutting off branches. For long branches, they will cut them into pieces. Once all the branches are removed from the tree, they will start chopping it down. They'll start at the top of the tree and chop the trunk into sections.  

When the tree is removed you are left with a stump. You should consider having the stump removed. Not only does it look unsightly in your yard, but it can also be a hazard for people walking. The tree service company will remove the stump for you. They do this by cutting as much of the stump away as they can. They then use a grinder to grind the stump until it is completely gone. They will also cut away as many roots as they can.

What You Can Do

When the tree is gone and the stump is removed, you are left with a hole in your yard. You can put soil in the hole and plant grass there to cover it up. If you do this take a grass sample to a garden center if you do not know what kind of grass you have. The last thing you want is to plant a different type of grass that looks much different. After planting the grass seeds, water them and keep the area moist until you start seeing grass blades grow through the soil.

You could also plant another tree in the place of this tree. If the tree was diseased you need to make sure the disease is gone before you plant the tree. The tree service company can help you with this.
